Agriculture Policy
This presentation addresses our research regarding the how government programs to protect producers for major animal disease risks are affected by industry structure, the nature of the disease, and whether the diseases has unique or general bio-security preventions. We conclude that one must account for the industry structure when designing policies that will induce desired risk management from producers.
This paper reports the result of analysis that examine the implications of the 2008 farm bill on cotton, wheat, soybean, and corn farms across the country. Representative results are examined on a county-by-county basis. In particular we focus on the risk reduction and payouts for the new ACRE program and how it potentially interacts with crop insurance.
