Catfish Budget and Tools

2010 Catfish Database
Terry Hanson and Dave Sites

This publication is a collection of data concerning the U.S. Farm-raised catfish industry. USDA-NASS (U.S. Department of Agriculture - National Agricultural Statistical Service) provides to the public information on the production and processing sectors of the U.S. farm-raised catfish industry. Over the years this data has been printed and distributed. More recently, data from 1995 to present have been put onto the Internet for easy access at http://usda.mannlib.cornell.edu/ (go to this site and then enter 'catfish' into the search box to go to a listing of available catfish reports). However, pre-1995 data are not available on-line. Thus, the reason for this publication is to put the longer time series of U.S. farm-raised catfish production and processing data together in one place.

SOURCES OF DATA
Information in this database came from many sources. However, the bulk of information came from the USDA NASS and ERS agencies. The link http://usda.mannlib.cornell.edu/ will take you to the home page of the USDA - Economics, Statistics and Market Information System home page. From there, entering 'catfish' into the search box will bring you to the four available reports on U.S. farm-raised catfish.

The collators of the U.S. Farm-raised Catfish Database wish to provide the kinds of data sought by users of aquacultural statistics, and welcomes comments or suggestions that will improve this publication. Address all comments or questions to:
