Rural Tourism

The Mississippi State University Extension Service Rural Tourism program works to enhance rural economies by providing assistance in the area of rural tourism development. Working with communities throughout the state, the Rural Tourism program supplies educational tools and extends applied research to build human capacity. The program also provides business planning assistance, helps with the development of regional efforts, and improves marketing strategies. The Rural Tourism program also promotes agritourism, and can provide assistance to farms to help with value added initiatives. Two regional efforts that are currently underway are the Miss-Lou Rural Tourism Association and the Alabama Mississippi Rural Tourism Conference.
