Why should I use this system?

Enterprise budgets represent a type of budget that can be used by a wide variety of individuals in making decision in the food and fiber industry. They are used:
  • by farmers for planning,
  • by extension personnel in providing educational programs to farmers,
  • by lenders as a basis for credit,
  • to provide basic data for research, and
  • to inform non-farmers of the costs incurred by farmers in the production of food and fiber crops.

Traditionally, the Department of Agricultural Economics at Mississippi State University has been publishing a Budget Report that provides information concerning general levels of costs and returns. But, this will have to be adjusted for specific situations.

This is where an interactive budget system really comes handy. This system will take inputs from the user and generate a budget tailored to their needs. The basic budget is shown initially and users can add, delete, or change costs or incomes to reflect their specific situations.
