Internship Overview Fact Sheet

Thank you for your interest in the Department of Agricultural Economics Internship Program at Mississippi State University. Briefly, here are the highlights of our Internship Program:

  • The purpose is to provide students with management training experiences and exposure that reinforce the concepts and tools taught in the classroom.

  • Students earn 3 hours of credit for an internship, with a total of 6 hours possible.

  • Provides students with valuable work experience, which helps students take the next step in their careers.

  • Allows students to create and establish critical networking contacts through supervisors and others they interact with during the internship program.

  • Often, students are not sure which career path to follow. Students have the opportunity to explore career opportunities in a given area without the longer-term commitment of a post-graduation job.

  • Internship programs are expected to be substantive, challenging, and professional, with exposure to applied management decision-making.

  • Likewise, employers have opportunity to evaluate potential long-term hires, but within the limited timeframe of the internship program.

  • Be a part of our dynamic internship program by hosting an Ag Business intern. For more information contact Dr. Randy Little, 325-2884/325-2671 or email little@agecon.msstate.edu.
